About Tier One

I didn’t stumble into childcare. I chose it — over and over again for 30 years.
I started babysitting at 12. By 18 I had worked with over 100 families and was fully booked every weekend, not because someone found me, but because I called every past client at the start of each month and asked them to book their next date night. I understood early that this work rewards the people who treat it like a profession.
Before I made childcare my full-time career, I spent two years working in a hospital emergency room and held my EMT certification for five years. I learned how to stay composed when everything around you isn’t. That skill has carried me through more household situations than I can count.
I spent nearly a decade in luxury hospitality: Hilton, Marriott, and Disney Cruise Line, where I was part of the opening team for the Disney Dream. I trained in Germany while the ship was still under construction, completed the transatlantic voyage, and was there for the maiden voyage. What hospitality gave me was a simple but unshakeable standard: the level of care doesn’t change based on the day, the mood, or the circumstance. The standard is the standard, every time.
In 2012 I walked away from hotel management to become a full-time nanny. It was the right call.
Over the next decade I worked inside some of the most demanding private households in the country, ultra-high-net-worth families with complex schedules, multiple properties, international travel, and high expectations for everyone around them. I managed estates, oversaw vendors and renovations, homeschooled children through a pandemic, traveled internationally on extended working trips, and cared for children from the day they came home from the hospital through their teenage years.
I have worked in households that were genuinely exceptional, families who respected the professional relationship, communicated clearly, and understood what it meant to welcome someone into their home as a trusted partner. I have also worked in situations where the opposite was true, where boundaries were ignored, standards were inconsistent, and the caregiver had no real recourse.
Both experiences shaped this platform equally.
I also know what it feels like to be on the other side of the hiring process, sending a resume into an agency system and wondering if a real person ever saw it. Being passed over, or not even considered, in ways that had nothing to do with qualifications. Watching agencies focus on placing candidates fast enough to protect their commission rather than placing them well enough to build a career.
I built Tier One because I have lived every part of this industry, as a caregiver, as a household manager, as a professional who has navigated both extraordinary families and genuinely difficult ones. I know what the standards should look like. I know where the current system fails. And I know that both caregivers and families deserve something built by someone who has actually done this work.
Every caregiver on this platform earns a $25 per hour minimum. Every family agrees to a code of conduct before they ever see a profile. The vetting process is real, not a checkbox and a paid membership. I review every application personally.
If you make it through this process, your profile means something. The families who find you here will know it.
